Welcome!

I am a chronicler of human stories of migration, community and identity especially those on the margins of empire. I am a professor of religion and culture at Wilfrid Laurier University. I hold PhD, MA, and BA degrees in sociology. My academic work focuses on trans-Atlantic connections linking Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas in the formation of Caribbean religious and cultural expressions. Storytelling has always informed my teaching, public intellectual work and research. I am a published author, co-author and editor of several academic books, chapters and articles including This Spot of Ground: Spiritual Baptists in Toronto. I am currently exploring other genres of writing including S/F fiction and creative non-fiction.
